Badminton

BADMINTON
History
There are different versions of the origin of the sport:
One says it's a modern version of the original game called Battledore. Another explains that comes from an Indian game called Poona, and British Army officers took him to Europe in the nineteenth century.
As known today emerged in England around 1870. Was interested in him the Duke of Beaufort, and began practicing on his estate called Badminton.
Its worldwide governing body is the International Badminton Federation or IBF (International Badminton Federation), founded in 1934, and Sir George Alan Thomas was its first president.
In Munich 1972 first appeared in the Olympics as a demonstration sport. It is an Olympic sport since 1992 in Barcelona, where only the modalities of men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles will be played. In 1996 the mixed doubles Atlanta is also included.
Badminton is a racquet sport for two players (singles) or two pairs (doubles).
It is considered one of the most tired sports and sports racquet faster, smash a shot or catch can reach a speed of over 300 Km / h.
The dominant peaks are Asian countries, such as China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Korea, where it is one of the national sports. In Europe only Denmark is at the same level.
Badminton field
It is played on a rectangular field of surface divided into two halves by a net, on which, driven by a racquet, must be passed a flyer (hemisphere cork on which there is inserted 16 goose feathers) about 5 grams of weight. The field dimensions are 6.10 x 13.40 m.
Service
To start a game, the wheel over the net per share of feathers standing and dropped. In the field to bring the cork part is where you have to take the kick. The serve is made diagonally and has to reach the square where it belongs. No second serve.
When the score is even, the right shows a square and when is odd, the left. When removed only have to look at the score taking the kick, regardless of the score that has the opponent.
 Scoring system in badminton
The May 6, 2006 the IBF (International Badminton Federation) approved the current scoring system, after being in evidence since early this year in international competitions. All modalities are vying to 3 sets of 21 points each set.
Individual
The player who wins the contention of a point is awarded one point in the score, in addition to the service for the next point. This is a significant difference with the previous scoring system, since historically to get the point he had to take the kick, ie, could only get one point the player had taken. If it gets to 20-20, the player gets two points of the lead wins the set. Should reach 29 to 29, the winner of the set is the first to reach 30. Player to win 2 of the 3 sets, wins the game.
Double
There were also significant changes in the doubles with the new regulations. Under the present system each couple has only one service (unlike the previous system, in which two services were available). The score works exactly as in single, but the location of each player on the serve and reception is somewhat more complex.
Basic strokes
The service
Perform properly service is of great importance to the game, as an ineffective means starting point kick giving every advantage to the adversary. The regulation requires hitting the steering wheel in the service of upright and below the hip at the time of impact. Despite these limitations, this coup has been to seek to surprise the opponent by observing its previous position on the field and properly deciding the direction, height and speed we will print the wheel.
According to the different disciplines (singles, doubles and mixed) are often used different types of serves. In singles play is mainly used long takes. In doubles play is generally used short kick (both in law and in reverse).
The service can run long (at the bottom of the track) or short (just coincides with a maximum height above the net). In this paper, for reasons of space, I will not dwell on these modes of service.

The clear
It is a blow that should send the high flyer and far into the field of the adversary, falling along the line. The clear who will be regarded as very high defense and passing just above the steering wheel racket otherwise be considered more offensive.
The clear is a blow that is from the bottom of the track itself, looking for the back of the court of the opponents court.
The clear can be played forehand or backhand. For beginners the backhand difficulty and usually costs more to learn the law.
The left
The left is a precision strike, which aims to bring down the vehicle just behind the net. There are two types of left: high (done by striking overhead) and low (hit run below the hip), can be made right and backhand.
The lob
It is a defensive strike, performed near the net. It is aimed high and towards the bottom of the track. We can use the lob after a high left, after a low or after a smash left. We can perform the lob and backhand right.
The smash or kick
It is the quintessential offensive punch. We can make mid-track forward safely and, as our technique asentamos from behind. In doubles we can do delayed for more positions.
In the smash, plus power, is of great importance camber which hinders the reception of the coup by the opposite. As we move away from the network, the smash is usually flatter and easier to repay.
The drive
It's considered a blow attack that is used more in doubles play in the individual. The point of contact with the steering wheel on the drive is usually between the chest and head (normally usually at the height of the shoulders).

When performing a drive, flywheel passes as close as possible the network and with a trajectory parallel to the ground.
